Outdoor Summer Wedding Inspiration

So here we are in the middle of the summer wedding season. Balmy summer days celebrating a bride and groom's special day could not be better. But how do you make sure you and your guests stay cool during your outdoor summer wedding on what could be the hottest day of the year?

Here are some ideas to to keep your guests focused on your day rather than the heat!

1. Set up welcome drinks for guests;

Some of your guests may have travelled a long way to be at your wedding. What better way to welcome them than to give them a welcome drink and cold towel to cool down.

2. Make sure your guests will be comfortable during the ceremony;

When planning your outdoor ceremony try to think of the comfort of your guests. Avoid anything metal which could get very hot in the sun. Sunglesses, parasols and fans all make cute wedding favours as well as helping guests stay cool. They are also handy props for photo booths later on!

3. Keep the refreshments handy:

Treat your guests to lots of refreshment stations around your wedding venue. This can be something simple like iced water with lemon and lime or something more alcoholic such as a Gin or Pimms station. If the budget allows, a Pimms tricycle is a lovely addition to an outdoor wedding and a great talking point for guests.

4. Consider cold canapes and deserts;

When the weather is hot, it is important to consider the type of food you intend to serve. Try keeping some of the canapes or courses cold to keep you and your guests happy in the sun. DIY canapes such as fruit skewers or iced fruit cups or lollies can be a cheaper alternative to hot catered canapes. Or if the budget allows, an ice cream van will keep children and adult guests smiling all day!

5. Keep your guests ready to party;

Nobody wants feet that are too hot or tired to party later on! Make sure your guests are ready to party by providing party flip flops to change into. These can be personalised with name tags as favours or simply kept as a treat for feet.

6. Ensure there is some shade;

Any couple planning an outdoor wedding hopes that the weather will be sunny all day long. But don't forget to ensure that there are some shaded areas where you and your guests can relax. Setting up a some large cushions or rugs under a big tree can create a fabulous place for you and your guests to relax for very little cost. Or the use of gazebos and tipis can also be great, depending on your wedding style.
